This hand dyed Silk Shibori Pleated Ribbon is absolutely scrumptious.
It starts out as white, 4" bias-cut silk ribbon, that is hand dyed by Glennis Dolce, fiber artist and owner of Shibori Girl Studios. Using the Japanese resist method known as Shibori, the ribbon is manipulated around a pole, dyed and sometimes over-dyed to produce beautiful color variations along the length of ribbon and between the pleats. The pleating brings the ribbon down to approximately 1" in width.
The ribbon is then steam set, which makes the colors permanent and the pleating semi-permanent. If you would like to alter the pleating, you can give the ribbon a shot of steam from your iron to relax the pleats, or iron the ribbon flat using a silk setting. Ironing the ribbon flat really shows off the Shibori pattern.
Whether you leave the ribbon as is, or alter its texture by steaming or ironing, it is a beautiful item to incorporate into your art quilts and other fabric surface design projects. The ribbons also make beautiful silk flowers and leaves which can be added as an embellishment to your project or garment.
The price listed is for 1 yard for $15.95.
Note: The ribbon is available in longer, continuous lengths up to 10 yards long. Please contact us if you would like to special order 10 yards or more.
As good as these pictures are, they do not do this ribbon justice. You have to experience it in person!

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING RE SNOW ON THE MOUNTAIN: The ribbon that I have in stock is not the colorway shown. The one I have has silver undertones rather gold undertones as shown. It is more like the color Grey Green. I will be ordering the one shown on the color card soon.
